Best online GLP-1 providers: what each price covers

Ro and Hims each start with a $39 membership charge. Stay on their regular monthly plans for a year and the membership alone reaches $1,678; medicine costs extra. Amazon One Medical also starts at $39, but that buys one message visit.

Where we'd start

Ask your current clinician

If they can prescribe an FDA-approved weight-loss medicine and follow your progress, compare their visit and lab charges with an online membership. Then check the manufacturer's cash price for the drug. You may already have the care you need.

Sesame for ongoing online care

Sesame advertises visits and messaging from $59 a month on an annual subscription. At that starting rate, the care fee comes to $708 for 12 months, with medication extra. It is the lowest published annual starting fee we found among the ongoing approved-drug programs in this comparison. Individual providers can charge more, so check the rate for the clinician you choose.

WW Med+ if you want the food and behavior program

WW Med+ adds nutrition and behavior tools to prescribing care. Its 12-month offer adds up to $839 in membership fees; medication is separate, and the plan renews. If you won't use those tools, Sesame's advertised care fee is lower. We found no head-to-head evidence that WW produces better clinical outcomes than these other services.

Amazon One Medical for a first visit

On-Demand Care starts at $39 per message visit. Its online GLP-1 path is for eligible adults ages 18–64 without diabetes and is unavailable in some states. Labs and medication cost extra. Amazon does not handle prior authorization on this path, and its follow-up message window lasts 14 days; further care may require another visit.

We have not picked a winner among the compounded plans. The FDA says a compounded drug should be used only when an approved drug cannot meet a patient's medical need. The low starting price does not tell you who made the drug, whether it meets that need or how your care will continue.

Plan for the visit after the prescription

The American Diabetes Association's obesity medication standards recommend an evaluation before treatment and follow-up at least monthly for the first three months. Visits should continue at least every three months for the rest of the first year. Telehealth can be part of that care. When comparing programs, find out who handles dose changes, side effects and lab results after the first prescription.

Compounded drugs call for another check. The FDA does not review them for safety, effectiveness or quality before marketing and has flagged dosing errors and poorly cooled shipments. The Obesity Medicine Association says the source of a compounded peptide should be disclosed and subject to the appropriate oversight.

Before a compounded prescription is sent

Ask the clinician what medical need the approved drug cannot meet. Get the dispensing pharmacy's name and check its license through the FDA's state pharmacy-board directory. You should also know who to call about the dose, side effects or a late shipment.

What the advertised prices cover

Drug and care fees are separated in the first table. The second table covers compounded plans, including offers that bundle the drug with care. All prices are US cash-pay offers; your prescription and checkout terms determine the bill.

The 12-month figures follow the advertised schedules: Sesame $59 × 12 = $708 on its annual starting plan, or $99 × 12 = $1,188 month to month; WW $25 + 11 × $74 = $839; Ro and Hims $39 + 11 × $149 = $1,678; Mochi $39 + 11 × $79 = $908 where the introductory offer applies; Henry $197 × 12 = $2,364. Found's $169 × 12 cycles is $2,028 for 48 weeks. These are fee calculations under the stated conditions, not full treatment quotes. Where the other familiar names stand

Ro and Hims

Both start membership at $39 and charge $149 a month thereafter on their regular monthly plans. The drug is extra, so compare the prescription price as well as the service. Ro offers lower monthly equivalents if you prepay for several months. Hims says cancelling membership also ends an active medication plan. At the ordinary monthly rate, both cost more in care fees than Sesame's advertised annual starting plan or WW Med+. Ro's plans · Hims' FAQ.

Noom Med

Noom offers a branded-medication care path and a separate compounded GLP-1 Rx program. Its public pages show different renewal prices, which leaves us without a dependable 12-month number. If its behavior program appeals to you, get the product name, the charge every 12 weeks, and the refund terms in writing before you subscribe. Pricing page · GLP-1 Rx page.

Mochi, Found and Henry Meds

Mochi charges for membership and medicine separately, and the medication price rises with the prescribed dose. Found bills its $169 offer every 28 days; 12 charges cover 48 weeks. Henry's $197 monthly equivalent requires a year paid upfront. If a clinician recommends a compounded drug for a patient-specific need, check the pharmacy, dosing instructions and follow-up before comparing those prices. The questions we took from patient forums

In a Hims thread, people describe discovering the membership charge on top of the drug price. Their personal bills vary. The company's FAQ confirms that medicine and membership are billed separately.

A Noom discussion includes people happy with their care and others who had trouble moving a shipment date. In a Mochi discussion, patients report late orders and someone identifying as a company representative explains when support will escalate them. If a delayed refill would leave you without medicine, ask about shipment timing before you join.

Commenters in r/FamilyMedicine disagree about compounded GLP-1s and discuss how they choose pharmacies. Their credentials are unverified. For safety questions, we rely on the FDA and Obesity Medicine Association.

Forum posts are self-selected accounts. They helped us spot billing and delivery questions, but they cannot tell us how often problems occur. We did not turn testimonials or complaints into a satisfaction score.

Get these answers before you pay

  1. Which drug, formulation and dose is the clinician considering? Look up the manufacturer's cash price for that product, since the membership fee may cover none of it.
  2. Who will review your labs, handle side effects and make dose changes? The ADA recommends follow-up at least monthly for the first three months of obesity medication treatment.
  3. Will the service submit prior authorization if you plan to use insurance? Can you use your chosen pharmacy if coverage is denied?
  4. What will leave your account over the next 12 months? Include the drug, care, labs and shipping. Mark any 28-day billing cycles, upfront charges and renewal dates.
  5. If the prescription is compounded, what patient-specific need does it address? Which licensed pharmacy will dispense it, and how will you receive dosing instructions?
